ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT


Computer Science and Engineering department was established to offer Undergraduate Programme in Computer Science and Engineering way back in 1984. Department started with an intake of 40 students. Current intake of students for Computer Science and Engineering Department is 240. Department is offering Graduate course (BE), two Post Graduate Programmes (M.Tech), namely, Computer Science & Engineering and Computer Network and Engineering with a intake of 18 and 06 respectively. In 2021, a new undergraduate programme in Computer Science and Design is started with an intake of 60. Department is also recognized as a Research Centre by Visvesvaraya Technological University , Belagavi in the year 2012. There are 50 research scholars registered for Ph.D. and 17 research scholars have been awarded Ph.D. registered under our research center.

Department has highly qualified faculty with specializations in Image Processing , Computer Networks , Mobile computing and Data Analytics ,Cloud Computing and Cyber Security. Sixteen of our faculty are doctorates. Department has to its credit over 250 technical publications in Scopus, Web of Science indexed ,SCI indexed, UGC CARE and other peer reviewed journal . Some faculty have been awarded prestigious awards in recognition of their research contributions. Publications of CSE department have earned good number of citations and reference indexes like, h-index, i10-index, Scopus and Google Scholar . Sixteen patents have been filed by faculty members under different domains amongst which one has been published.

Department has received a grant of Rs. 40 Lakhs by Vision Group of Science and Technology (VGST), Govt. of Karnataka, to establish Cloud Computing laboratory. Also, it has received grant for quality technical publications under Awards for Research Publications(ARP) scheme under VGST.
